My eyes are blurry as the waves of tears are flooding them. My
heart is bleeding and my soul is crying. The deafening shrieks of my Jewish
essence refuse to fade.
I watch the falling victims of evil all around me. They are white, black, yellow. They are Christians, Muslims, Hindus. They are gay, they are straight. They are religious and they are atheists. They are young and they are old. Evil sees no color, no creed and no age. It smites anything and anyone who stands in its way towards its own redemption towards the fulfillments of its revolting prophecies.

The four chambers of my Jewish heart, however, have room to
mourn and hurt the pain, the loss of only my people. Why? Because, as I repeated
time and again, if I don’t, very few others, if any, will.
I am not going to beg you, plead with you, dear world, to join me on the journey of my bereavement. You never did, you never will. If anything, you only helped and continue to help pave the way and remove the roadblocks that hamper the path for those who target us, those who wish to turn us into an extinct specimen in the history of mankind.

Please do not expect me to join you when you mourn and count
your dead strewn on the very same trail that you have toiled so hard to devise
for us. I cannot, I simply cannot. I am still mourning millions of my people
who died in the fires of the altars of history, alters that you and your
ancestors sweated so hard to erect in their efforts to purge this world of a
plague called “Jews.”
The tears I shed help extinguish those fires. Unfortunately, you never tire to ensure there are more fires than the gashes which my drying eyes could ever yield.
So please, do not expect me to join you in your pain. The scars of my ache reject, much with your unrelenting support, the healing process of my own agony. I have no time, no ability to share yours. You have numbed my sensitivity to your suffering. The bitter taste of the medicine you have been feeding my people has intoxicated us. It has failed you. We have become indifferent to it. Unfortunately, it has made us like you, oblivious.
Your antics have forced many of us to produce our own medicine. We even have a name for it, “Our Jewish people come first!” We care for Jews first. If our common enemy, the monster you have given birth to, fed and nurtured, leaves our Jewish victims next to yours, we will mourn ours first. We will remember and commemorate ours before we do yours.

Please do not expect us to do otherwise.
Yet unlike our assailants we show mercy to the perpetrators of atrocities against us, even treating their often self-afflicted wounds in our own hospitals. This is because despite all we are Jews.

ReplyDeleteevil prevails when good men/women remain silent. the silence over millenium, is deafening. origionaly we were picked on because we were perceptive to be weak. false libel and lies, added to the problem, as even today. but now t g., we show the world otherwise. we will not walk to the slaughter like sheep. the tide is turning. people are being woken up. admittedly, not fast enough, but we are getting there. watch this space.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chaim Silver. Shavua tov!

DeleteI agree with you, Batzi. I could give a tinker's damn about non-Jews who die in a world that hates us. My own come first - and quite often, last as well. By the way, my dear, the phrase is "altars of history". This is not about taking in or letting out the waist on a dress or skirt - that has everything to do with "altering".
ReplyDeleteRuvy, I agree with you, as (almost) always! :-)

DeleteVery well spoken.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteTodah for this and greetings from an LGBTI ben anussim from Brazil!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment :-)
DeleteExcellent blog, Batzi - very truthful and is as it must be - we mourn by our commitments to service to honor the memories of those whose lives have returned to stardust before us. From my mom to my daughter to the 6,000,000 WWII Nazi-Mufti victims through the ones who will be stabbed, over-driven and/or murdered this evening, this is a daily experience now and this disgusts me as member of the species, homo sapien.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff for your poerful post <3
ReplyDeleteThis is the very essence of how we are - how we feel. Through good times and bad times we always remember who we are and from whence we came. Thank you for sharing this most excellent written piece
ReplyDeleteThank you Hillary Proud of who we are <3

ReplyDelete"If the Redemption were to occur in good, peaceful times, when quiet prevailed among peoples many of our Jewish brethren would not want to leave the Exile; for what would they be lacking there? …therefore, these calamities come upon us in order to awaken us to return to our Holyland." Though I believe that not ALL Jews shiuld move to Eretz Yisrael, for various reasons, I certainly believe Yisrael, our only Home, is the best and safest place for us <3
DeleteIt’s a brilliant piece, if you can close your eyes and imagine your words turn to actions your heart will bleed from the suffering of our people. Thanks Bat Zion for tagging me. You had me tearing up while reading this piece .❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarai. These words coming from you, is the utmost of compliments <3
DeleteNo other peoples on the face of the earth has Hashem so near them and you must always know that no matter how horrible the trials you have faced, and perhaps may face again, your Destiny as Hashem's favored peoples will turn to you for a Light to all nations when He raises up to exalt you in His appointed time as His Holy Prophets have testified - then you shall see, face to face, Awraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov, for their descendants are the work of Hashem's hands who will be glorified before all nations in due time - and His dead will take up their life again (Isaiah 29:22-24; Hosea 2:14-23; Jeremiah 3:12-19; Ezekiel Chs 34, 36 and 37).
ReplyDeleteStan, Amen!
DeleteA passive Jew is a dead Jew. We should be what HaShem set us out to be in the first place. In Torah it says “ when your enemy is coming to kill you, RISE UP QUICKLY AND SLAUGHTER THEM”. And we’re doing exactly the opposite ! Your article Bat Zion, broke my heart !
ReplyDeleteThank you again Sarai. Shabbat Shalom, my friend <3
